How billing works

The unit is one event

One event is one request your SDK saw. Beacon posts ride along with the request they belong to, so they are not counted twice. Snapshot polls and ingest bytes appear on your usage page for capacity planning, and are never billed. Billing is per events ingested per month.

Side-by-side with the feature lists: pricing.

The 14-day trial

Free needs no card. A 14-day trial of Starter or Growth needs a card. Nothing is charged today. Cancel before the trial ends (the date is shown in the app) and you pay nothing. Otherwise the plan's monthly price starts on day 15. There is one trial per person and per card, once your email is verified, and prepaid cards can't start a trial. Enforcement is on, and you get every feature of the plan you pick for the whole trial.

If the day-15 charge fails, the organization has Free features until an invoice is paid. Moving to Free deletes no data beyond what Free's 7-day retention ages out.

Going over the included events

Going over never blocks or slows your traffic, and never turns protection off. What changes is how much camada analyses and what you are charged:

  • On Free, after a 10% grace the analyst lowers its sampling rate to a plan floor, so it keeps working inside the budget instead of stopping. Enforcement of blocks you already have is unaffected.
  • On paid plans sampling stays at 1 and the extra events are billed per million at your plan rate: Starter $5 per extra 1m events, Growth $3 per extra 1m events.
  • You are alerted at 80% and at 100% of the included events, once each per period, in the app and on your alert channels.

The numbers you see are the numbers you are billed

Usage is summed per UTC day per project from the same rollups the analyst writes, and that single set of rows is what the billing page shows, what the usage page charts, and what is reported to Stripe. There is no second meter.

Upgrades, downgrades, cancelling

  • During the trial: cancel or switch plan any time. The trial end date does not move. A cancelled trial is never charged and the organization moves to Free on that date.
  • Upgrade: takes effect immediately and is invoiced at once, prorated for the rest of the period.
  • Downgrade, including to Free: scheduled for the end of the period you already paid for. Nothing changes until then, and you can undo it before it lands.
  • Cancel: the same shape — the subscription ends at the end of the period, and the organization is then on Free. You can resume before it takes effect.

What changes on Free

  • Retention of analysis rows drops to 7 days. Raw events are kept 7 days on every plan.
  • Enforcement is off: verdicts stay, as recommendations, and the SDK stops enforcing them.
  • Alert channels narrow to email.
  • 1 project; extra projects stay readable but cannot be created.
  • Above 100k events a month, sampling drops to the plan floor.

Invoices and receipts

Stripe renders them; camada does not build its own. Overage is its own invoice line ("Events over included: N × rate"). Stripe emails a reminder before the trial ends, and camada emails a confirmation when it starts. Receipts and failed-payment mail come from Stripe, to the billing address on the account. Payment methods, tax ids and the billing address are managed in the Stripe customer portal, linked from the app's billing settings.
